PURPOSE

The William M. Raines National Alumni Association presents the 2024 Dr. Andrew A. Robinson, Jr. Scholarship Awards. The awards will be presented to outstanding senior students who have demonstrated outstanding academic, service, and leadership qualities while attending William M. Raines Senior High School. The scholarships will be awarded in varying amounts ranging from $250 to $5000. The criteria for each scholarship vary. Please refer to the list below for the requirements of each one. All scholarships require that the student be in good academic and behavioral standing at the school. Submission Deadline: Sunday, April 28th.

Some scholarships require nominations by letter of recommendation. Nominations can be solicited from Raines faculty, staff, and academic advisors. When required, letters of recommendation can be submitted with the scholarship application. Other scholarships may require a resume and/or essay submission. These can also be submitted with the application. Please read the requirements of each scholarship carefully. Best wishes to every applicant!

  • Resume (should reflect significant commitment of volunteer service to the Jacksonville community)

YLONDA C. BOLDEN-PHILLIPS SCHOLARSHIP

(Sponsored by the Family of Ylonda C. Bolden-Phillips)

  • Be a current high school senior at Raines HS
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Have applied to or been accepted into college, military*, or trade school
  • You must be a member of the marching band or a member of the cheerleading squad
  • You must have at least 50 hours of community service hours.
  • You must be a product of a single parent home being raised by one parent; grandparents; or foster care
  • You must attend an HBCU
  • Resume

  • *Four (4) $500 scholarships will be awarded to individual recipients

RESILIENCY
AWARD

 $5000

  • Be a current high school senior at Raines HS

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5

  • Have applied to or been accepted into college, military*, or trade school

  • Letter of recommendation by Raines faculty or staff member

  •  Active in school activities, clubs, and/or athletics

  • Preference for students participating in golf and/or pursuit of career in golf (not a
    requirement).*

  • 500-word essay demonstrating your interest in business, leadership, and/or
    entrepreneurship, and golf or athletic experience or pursuit.

  •  * Any athlete who has received a full-ride scholarship from any institution is ineligible
    for this award.
